The Peugeot 408 is pleasant inside and fairly well equipped. The closely-related Citroën C5 X is more comfortable and cheaper to buy, but the plug-in hybrid 408's slightly longer electric range makes it a better choice for company car buyers. The entry-level Puretech 130 makes the most sense for private buyers, and we recommend Allure Premium trim.

This entry-level trim gets rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and dual-zone climate control. It gets the basics covered.

The cheaper and less powerful of the two plug-in hybrid options is only a little bit slower in a straight-line sprint than the more expensive Hybrid 225. The official electric range is 40 miles.
