The Corolla Commercial is a unique proposition: it’s cheap to run thanks to its hybrid engine, practical, and more comfortable to drive than many of its van-based rivals. And for those reasons, it's the best car-derived van you can buy.

We think entry-level Icon trim is all you could ever need. It includes 16in alloy wheels, automatic headlights, dual-zone air conditioning, adaptive cruise control and a 10.5in touchscreen infotainment system with built-in sat nav and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

While the entry-level engine has plenty of power to offer, those after more performance will want to look at the 2.0 Hybrid. With power increased to 193bhp, it has the ability to sprint from 0-62mph in just 7.7sec and even more versatility when it comes to overtaking. Despite the extra power, it should still manage around 60mpg.
