The Volvo V90 is a practical and classy choice that rides and handles well if you specify it with the optional adaptive dampers and avoid massive alloy wheels. It isn't that cheap to buy and it suffers quite heavy depreciation, which are two reasons we rate the BMW 5 Series Touring more highly, but the V90 is definitely worth a look if you can bag yourself a great deal.
We’re yet to try this revised version with a larger 18.8kWh battery pack. We expect it to perform similarly to the outgoing version which - while it doesn’t feel like a rocket ship - is swifter than a 530e, and is of course near-silent when it’s in electric mode. It also shuffles seamlessly between its two power sources.
