This budget small MPV is based on a delivery van, which goes some way to explain its poor results for child protection and shortage of safeguards for pedestrians.

And while the Kangoo’s four stars for impact protection is respectable, its cabin was badly damaged in the frontal impact and became structurally unstable, which adds to the chances of occupants suffering injuries.

The Kangoo fared well in the side impact, especially considering that side airbags were not fitted as standard to the model tested.
