Bought the Focus 16 TDCI Sport new in march 2011. I traded in a Golf Diesel. Worse mistake I have ever made. The Focus is inferior in everyway. The trim in the cabin is tatty- the fit and the finish is shoddy. The engine is underpowered and needs to be thrashed to get any semblance of power out of it. I'm not used to driving in this manner. Good points are, the chassis is good and the steering perfect.Radio is fiddly; no button to press to change from FM to Mw or Lw. You must go through a drop down list and choose whilst driving!! Silly design. Will certainly change the car in the next few months and go back to VW.
Nice to drive and excellent economy are the only good things i can say about this car.
Got this car brand new and really cheap through a family member working for Ford (£7000 discount!) but i wish id just bought a second hand cheaper car. The economy is amazing. 51mpg just on town driving. I dont drive like a learner eaither but i dont floor it all the time. Really impressed with that. £30/year tax - brilliant!!! Lovely to drive and fairly nippy 1.6 tdci engine.
Thats the good bit over.
I test drove the 1.6tdci titanium. Much nicer interior! On the whole i think the car has lost its sporty sleek look. I had 2 previous zetec focus, T reg and 53 reg. This focus looks boring and everything feels very plastic and cheap. The steering wheel is hideous (again cheap and plastic). The radio is abismal!! Reception is always going. The outside of the car just doesnt excite me anymore.
Thats all i can find to moan about 'cos the car is so boring.
I loved my other 2 focus's with a passion and if i could find a decent low milage one id buy the older version rather than this. The bluetooth is a pretty nice touch but on the whole i dont like it at all. I got this after handing back my Scirocco (i nearly cried) but needed to save some brass so ive got what i want out of the car. Good milage, low tax and low payments!!
I wont be buying another ford!!
after all the problems with my st 220 iv got rid and had a new focus titanium 1.6 eco boost i must say im impressed very smooth and good on fuel too it seems to suit the car better than the diesel and after all the problems with dpf on diesels all i will say is if your thinking of diesel read the bloggs first its early days yet we will see how reliable it is but im well impressed ford have moved forward with this new focus
i pick up my new focus rs in green on the 2nd of march, looked round the car and all was good, when i got the car home to wash it i notice silver in the paint looked over the car more and found over spay inside the doors ,and loads of fish eyes, phoned up ford and they say take it to the dealer that you got it from,i said that because it was over 250 miles away could i take it to the dealer near me,they said yes, when i got there the dealer said that the car was a bad,and it would need a full respay.(not happy)been phoning ford uk and they are crap,i am a ford man and thats all i have ever had,not any more.ford uk say that they will not change the car but they will paint it do you think this is right
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
My late 2010 1.6 CRDI has covered 43,000 miles in just over 18 months. The good. So far the car seems totally reliable. The interior still looks…
