Used test: Audi Q7 vs BMW X7 vs Land Rover Discovery verdict

You can save up to £23,000 on these luxurious SUVs if you buy at two years old instead of new. But which of them should you choose?...

New Land Rover Discovery vs Audi Q7 vs BMW X7 noses

Our verdict

With its smooth engine and genuine off-road ability, not to mention its somewhat mild (compared to our other two contenders) deprecation, the Land Rover Discovery makes a valiant case for itself. It stumbles over some key hurdles, though, namely in the handling and reliability departments.

Extremely plush and surprisingly agile, the Audi Q7 hasn't lost its charm. It's better value in other trims, but on the upside this Vorsprung model is bursting with kit. Overall, there are very few flaws against its name.

Even with the Q7 setting the bar incredibly high, the BMW X7 manages to exceed it. Not only does it have the plushest interior, but it’s also the biggest inside. Performance is impressive and so is fuel economy. In almost all areas, the X7 goes above and beyond, yet costs the same to buy as its two rivals. It takes the victory.
