The Stelvio offers alluring looks, entertaining handling and a decent equipment list. For the money, though, there are better all-rounders that have more a polished interior, a comfier ride and more space inside.

With 276bhp and a 0-62mph of just 5.7sec the 2.0-litre turbo petrol sounds very punchy, but in reality it needs to be worked hard to show its true muscle. As a result, it doesn’t feel as quick as the on-paper numbers suggest, and that detracts from the feeling of sportiness.
