As part of the car's 2024 facelift, the 2.9 V6 was tweaked to produce a touch more power (512bhp) and the result is bombastic performance. Zero to 62mph takes just 3.8 seconds and given the space it will go on to a top speed of 177mph. It never feels anything other than bonkers fast.

The BMW 3 Series-rivalling Giulia executive saloon is one of the best cars in its class to drive, while the closely related Stelvio and smaller Tonale both competes in the booming SUV class.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers alluring looks, entertaining handling and a decent equipment list. For the money, though, there are better all-rounders that have more a polished interior, a comfier ride and more space inside. If you do buy a Stelvio, we recommend the diesel engine and entry-level Sprint trim.
