The DS 7 is a well-equipped, comfortable and reasonably practical family SUV. It can’t quite stand up to similarly priced premium SUVs including the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 though, falling behind when it comes to deprecation, how it drives and the quality of its interior materials.

Aside from full leather trim on the massaging front seats and a rotating BRM clock, there’s not a lot of difference between this and the Performance Line + model.

This plug-in hybrid combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors to give 297bhp and four-wheel drive. It’s certainly punchy, but it proves unrefined and is expensive.
