The NX is a fine all-rounder and the best car Lexus has launched for years. Stick with F Sport trim for the best balance between price and equipment.

So far, this is the only version of the NX we’ve tried – and that’s important to note because F-Sport models have different suspension to other trims. Ride comfort is good at low speeds, with some fidget on faster roads. Our pick of the range taking into account both price and standard equipment.

The plug-in hybrid version of the Lexus NX can officially do up to 45 miles on pure battery power, before its 2.5-litre petrol engine takes over until you plug the car in again. Acceleration is surprisingly nippy, with 0-62mph taking 6.3 seconds.
