Classy, comfortable, good to drive and packed with technology, the Mercedes A-Class stands among the best premium-badged options in the family car class.

If you can, we’d suggest stepping up to AMG Line Executive because it doesn’t cost all that much more but comes with larger 18in alloy wheels and the incredibly comfortable sports seats. Other than that, you’ll find lots of AMG styling upgrades across the exterior and interior.

The entry-level engine isn’t a bad choice if you’re sticking around town and don’t plan to use it often on motorways. If you do, it needs to be worked pretty hard to get up to speed and there’s some vibration through the steering wheel once you get there. If you can, we’d suggest upgrading to the A200.
