The Mini Cooper has its charms, being thoroughly stylish, powerful and – for the most part – good to drive. It has its flaws and there are objectively better small cars, but the Cooper has always appealed more to the heart than the head. Our favourite variant is the entry-level Cooper C.
The trim
Classic is the entry-level trim and offers relatively little in the way of personalisation options. You do get a Level 1 equipment package upgrade as standard with the Cooper SE, though.
The engine
The C's entry-level 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 154bhp and delivers 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds (in the three-door version). No matter the situation, it feels very punchy, making it our favourite option.
