The best small SUV leasing deals

Ford Puma with What Car? Leasing logo

If you want space, practicality and a high-set driving position that gives you a better view of the road ahead than you get in a conventional hatchback, the chances are you'll be looking at an SUV as your next car. These used to be big, lumbering off-roaders, but these days practically every manufacturer makes a smaller model that can both be practical for your family and kind to your wallet.

You can buy these cars using cash or PCP finance deals – such as the ones on What Car? New Car Buying – or leasing. Leasing is especially good if you want to keep your monthly payments low and you're not bothered about owning the car at the end of your agreement. Here, we've rounded up the best leasing deals on our top 10 favourite small SUVs, so you know you're getting both a great price and a great car.

In each case, click the links to find out more, and check out all the great deals available through What Car? Leasing.

10. Suzuki Vitara

2020 Suzuki Vitara mHEV hero

Model 1.4 Boosterjet SZ4 | Leasing price from £190.99 per month

The deal 36-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1140.54 initial payment

The Vitara is one of the most spacious small SUVs available, and because it's also one of the cheapest around, it represents great value for money. Stick to one of the l0wer-end models and you'll be saving some serious cash, but don't think that means you'll be left wanting for kit, because even SZ4 models come with adaptive cruise control, climate control and automatic wipers. The 1.4-litre petrol engine we recommend is both punchy and economical, too.

The deal 24-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1260.60 initial payment

With a spacious interior and flexible seating that makes it thoroughly family friendly, there's plenty to like about Honda's smallest SUV. Go for our recommended 1.5-litre petrol engine and you'll enjoy smooth performance that's ideal around town, while SE versions lift the interior ambiance with leather trim around the gear lever and steering wheel, plus rear electric windows and an upgraded range of safety equipment.

8. Kia Stonic

Kia Stonic front - white

Model 1.0 T-GDi '2' | Leasing price from £177.55 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1065.30 initial payment

The 1.0-litre petrol engine that we recommend in the Kia Stonic is perfect for those who mainly do short journeys around town, but that doesn't mean it's out of its depth on the motorway. In fact, it has enough punch to make short work of overtakes on country roads – something that can't be said of some rivals. Elsewhere, the Stonic comes with plenty of kit, and offers agile handling to keep you entertained on twisty roads.

7. Nissan Juke

Nissan Juke long-term tracking

Model 1.0 N-Connecta | Leasing price from £221.42 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1382.52 initial payment

The original Nissan Juke may have been one of the first small SUVs you could buy, but it was tiny inside and poor to drive. This latest version, however, is improved in every respect, with a smart interior, a strong safety rating and lots of toys as standard on N-Connecta models. There are more well-rounded small SUVs to buy, but few will get you noticed more than the Juke.

6. Seat Arona

2020 Seat Arona - front tracking

Model 1.0 TSI 95 SE Technology | Leasing price from £165 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £990 initial payment

The Arona might be Seat's smallest SUV, but it's surprisingly spacious inside and great to drive, and although the engine we recommend is also the baby in the range, it's surprisingly gutsy and perfectly suited to pootling around town. So-so interior quality lets the Arona down, but at least SE models come well equipped, with 17in alloy wheels, climate and cruise controls and metallic paint all coming as standard.

Audi Q2 2020 cornering

Model 30 TFSI Sport | Leasing price from £250.80 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1504.80 initial payment

The Q2 is Audi's smallest and cheapest SUV yet, but it still has the kind of classy interior you expect from the brand. What's more, it's great to drive, with composed handling, precise steering and impressive refinement. Sport models are our favourites, and come sports seats and 17in alloy wheels that provide a more muscular look, as well as the basics that come on Technik cars, such as a 7.0in infotainment touchscreen and cruise control.

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1404.42 initial payment

The T-Cross is one of the best small SUVs you can buy right now – it's great to drive, spacious inside and comes with an impressive array of safety equipment. Plus it's competitive on running costs, so will be kind to your wallet. SE versions cover most of your equipment needs, with adaptive cruise control, a second USB charging port and 17in alloy wheels.

3. Volkswagen T-Roc

Volkswagen T-Roc

Model 1.0 TSI 115 Design | Leasing price from £222 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1332 initial payment

Volkswagen was quite late to the small SUV party, but now it has two to choose from: the T-Cross described above, and this, the T-Roc. Slightly bigger than the T-Cross, it's spacious by the standards of this class, and is quiet, with a comfortable ride.

Model 1.0 TSI 95 SE | Leasing price from £174.54 per month

The deal 48-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1047.52 initial payment

The same value-for-money ethos that makes Skoda's other SUVs so recommendable is present on the smaller Kamiq, too. It's remarkably practical, and is classier inside than most rivals. That it's also good to drive means the Kamiq is a sure choice for any small SUV shortlist. The 1.0-litre petrol engine we recommend is just the ticket for most journeys, and also keeps running costs low.

Model 1.0 Ecoboost mHEV Titanium | Leasing price from £208.38 per month

The deal 24-month term, with annual mileage limit of 8000 miles. Plus £1250.28 initial payment

The Puma is a fantastic small SUV – in fact, it's our Car of the Year for 2020. Why does it deserve our top accolade? Well, as well as offering everything that an SUV buyer could want, including outstanding practicality and comfort, it also brings low fuel bills thanks to its clever mild-hybrid engine technology. That you can lease one for just a little more than £200 per month shows why leasing deals are worth paying attention to.
