Deal of the Day: Volkswagen Beetle
Save over £4000 on a Volkswagen Beetle 2.0 TSI 220 Sport hatchback...

We've recently been behind the wheel of the new Volkswagen Beetle Dune in prototype form, with its raised suspension, 18in alloy wheels and widened wheel arches beefing up the styling of the standard Beetle.
If the Dune isn’t for you, large savings can be made on non-Dune Beetle models, including the £4367 we’ve found off the list price of the Beetle 2.0 TSI 220 Sport.

For
The 2.0-litre TSI engine offers hot-hatch performance with a healthy 216bhp on tap, with the 0-60mph sprint taking a breezy 6.5sec.
Volkswagen hopes to attract style-conscious buyers with the Beetle’s mix of modern and retro styling, both inside and out. The Beetle is certainly a stylish model among Volkswagen’s otherwise sober range.
Top-spec Sport trim gets all the equipment you’ll need, and the saving on offer drops the pre-discount £23,755 asking price well below the £20k mark.
Against
The added style of the Beetle means practicality takes a hit. It only seats four and while the boot is only marginally smaller than that of the Golf, it’s an awkward shape and not ideally suited to longer loads.
The hearty performance of the 2.0 TSI 220 model may hint at hot hatch credentials, but these are undermined by the disappointing ride and handling. A Golf GTI alternative this is not.
Should I add any options?
Just enjoy the saving on offer, as the well-equipped Sport model means any options are just luxurious extras which will swallow up the discount.
