Musical road hits bum note

Honda may have secured global publicity by creating a 'musical' road, but it is now having to relay the asphalt after complaints from local residents.

As part of a marketing campaign for the new Civic, strips of asphalt were on a highway in California. The grooves then caused reverberations through the tyres when a car drove over them at 55mph, 'playing' the William Tell overture.

However, local residents have complained that the noise is keeping them awake at night, and Honda has agreed to relay the asphalt immediately.
