New Alpine A110 S vs new Porsche 718 Cayman T: verdict

The Alpine A110 S and Porsche 718 Cayman T promise to be even sharper to drive than their 'regular' siblings. But which has the finer edge?...

Our verdict

By the standards of two-seat sports cars, the Cayman has always been very easy to live with, and this new T variant doesn’t sacrifice that. In fact, it could do with feeling a little more focused to help justify its £7k premium over the entry-level Cayman.

The A110 demands more from you, but it also delivers more thrills, and that’s obviously significant with cars likes these. Add in the fact that it will cost you quite a bit less in the long run and it has to win the test.

If it were our money, though, we’d go for the standard A110 rather than the S. It’s cheaper, looks almost identical and has sweeter steering and a more settled ride.
