New Volkswagen ID 3 vs used Tesla Model 3: verdict

If you're shopping for a new electric car, the Volkswagen ID.3 is well worth considering, but for just a little bit more you could have a used Tesla Model 3. Which it the better buy?...

New Volkswagen ID.3 vs used Tesla Model 3

Our verdict

The ID 3 remains a fine choice, with it long range, spacious interior and fine ride and handling balance among the highlights. In fact, we reckon the only small electric car that's better is the closely related Cupra Born.

However, if you don't mind expanding your search to include used cars, the Model 3 would be our recommendation. It's even more enjoyable to drive than the ID 3, comes with a much better infotainment system and makes charging on the go easier, thanks to its ability to access all of Tesla's rapid and reliable Supercharger network. The fact that it's also likely to cost you less in the long run seals the deal.
