Used test: Audi SQ7 vs BMW X6 vs Range Rover Velar verdict

These luxury SUVs are fast, spacious and ooze desirability, but is the Audi SQ7, BMW X6 or Range Rover Velar the best used buy?...

Range Rover Velar vs Audi SQ7 vs BMW X6

Our verdict

With its relaxing ride and plush interior, the Range Rover Velar feels special every time you get behind the wheel. However, the trade off is sub-par performance, practicality and, most concerning of all, reliability. These flaws bring down what is otherwise a truly desirable package, and it ranks third third.

In second is the BMW X6. Its low price compared with its two rivals is alluring – if you can stomach the steeper deprecation during ownership – and if you do buy one, you'll get a pleasing driving experience and surprisingly capable practicality. It's just a shame its engine isn't quieter.

Then we come to the Audi SQ7. While it's the priciest to buy and run, it offers the most performance out of our trio. It's also one of the most complete used cars on sale, full stop. Incredible power, barely believable agility and a superb interior are strengths, but it’s also remarkably comfortable and quiet, and is easily the most practical of our trio.
