What alternatives should I consider to a used Skoda Yeti estate?

The Peugeot 3008 stands out a bit more from the crowd than the Yeti, thanks to its styling. It works well as a practical family car because of its large, flexible boot area. However, it is quite stodgy to drive, especially when it hasn’t been equipped with the Dynamic Roll Control option.

The Nissan Qashqai has a well-made interior that feels classy – especially the facelifted version – and offers people the raised ride height they desire. It doesn’t offer any more interior space compared with a traditional family hatchback, however, and you will have to pay for the raised suspension and comfortable ride because it will roll a bit through the corners.

The Volkswagen Tiguan is quite similar to the Yeti in terms of size and drive, having a stiff low-speed ride that settles with speed. The cabin has a better finish to it, but you do have to pay extra for that as the Tiguan is more expensive than the Yeti.

Verdict

The Yeti is Skoda’s answer to the small SUV craze and it’s a stylish and practical alternative to a hatchback, even if its ride and refinement are poor

  • Fun to drive for an SUV
  • Spacious cabin
  • Some efficient versions
  • Too much wind and road noise
  • Ride is jittery on poor surfaces
  • Removable rear seats are fiddly
