I have owned my 5dr Td4 HSE for a year now and find it an excellent vehicle. One problem I did have was that the heater hoses had chaffed due to the vibration of the engine. Land Rover was aware of the problem and told me it only affected the Td4 models due to the fuel heater. Hoses were replaced at 15,000 miles, I have now done 24,000 in a year and all is good. Seat-height adjustment would have been a good feature but on the whole this is a great tool.
Owned the vehicle for four years. Only problem I had was the rear window washer hose parted internally in the rear door, which was rectified by the dealer promptly.
Found the Td4 engine reliable, quiet and nippy. All round, owning the Freelander was a pleasure and I don't understand the bad press it gets. Eventualy sold it to go up-market and bought a BMW X3 which is supposedly the BMW 'Freelander'. Wish I had kept my Freelander!
In six months since new, this car has had two new flywheels, two clutch assemblies, a failed window and is erratic at starting.
Landrover has failed to respond to phone calls and in my opinion the dealership has failed to understand the term "customer service".
I have just traded this car in for a new Golf.
Please take notice!
Comfortable to drive, could do with a little more headroom and a more powerful engine.
Otherwise my ideal car.
