The Audi A1 is a fine car – it's great to drive, comfortable to sit in and is available with lots of big car options. However, if you can live without a posh badge, the Peugeot 208 and VW Polo offer slightly more for less.
Range-topping trim gets 18in alloys, a contrasting black roof and a black exterior styling pack along with privacy glass. Unless you love the looks, there’s little reason to recommend this expensive trim level.
The engine range kicks off with the 25 TFSI, which is a 94bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine. We're yet to try it in the A1 yet, but the more powerful 30 TFSI is our pick of the ranges so far.
