If you live in a city and you want a brand-new electric car that is capable of getting you from door to door in relative comfort, the Spring is well worth considering. However, if you live further afield and are drawn to the Spring's budget pricing, think twice. Its limited range, slow charging rate, and low safety rating prevent it from being an all-in-one bargain like the Citroën ë-C3 and MG4.

Expression gets the bare essentials such as cruise control, steering wheel-mounted controls, electric front windows and rear parking sensors.

We’ve yet to drive the Electric 45, but with just 44bhp and a claimed 0-62mph time of 19.1 seconds it is one of the slowest cars on sale.
