The GV70 has a lot going for it, including competitive pricing, a long warranty, a five-year servicing package, a high level of standard equipment and one of the most luxurious interiors in the family SUV class. And while it's not quite as rounded as the Audi Q5, the GV70 is a convincing left-field choice. That said, company car users will want to look elsewhere, because rival large SUVs with plug-in hybrid technology are far less costly for benefit-in-kind tax.
The trimSee full equipment
Top-spec Luxury features the same extras as Sport but also gets a set of massive 21in wheels and does without the sportier appearance. We don’t feel this is worth the extra outlay, especially when you consider that the larger wheels have a detrimental effect on ride quality.
The engineSee full engine specs
The 201bhp diesel is impressively quick, with a 0-62mph time of 7.6secs (just a touch behind a Q5 40 TDI). There’s also plenty of low-end shove and a decent spread of power across the rev range. However, the diesel emits a coarse rumble during acceleration, and unlike in the Q5 40 TDI, that rumble is always there at a cruise, which can get a little tiring after a while.
