We can see how the Lexus UX 300e’s reliability, equipment levels and pleasant driving characteristics would make it a tempting proposition. However, its tiny range, slow charging and lack of practicality make it very hard to justify at the price
The trim
Premium trim is more generously equipped than Urban, and adds keyless entry, front parking sensors, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. We reckon it's the trim to go for on account of it offering the best balance between cost and kit.
The engine
Lexus has added a more powerful 300h hybrid system to the UX line-up, with an uprated battery and electric motor. It produces 196bhp, which means it can go from 0-62mph in 8.1sec. That’s marginally quicker than the 250h, but the extra power is more noticeable as you pull away from a standstill. It also offers stronger acceleration at high speeds.
