2015 Honda Jazz - prices, engines and on-sale date

The new Honda Jazz made its debut at the Geneva motor show in March and will go on sale in the UK this September.

What is it?

The new Jazz replaces the current popular small car from Honda and features a new bodyshell built on the manufacturer’s ‘global compact platform’. It also retains the central fuel tank layout found in the outgoing version.

It’s taller and lighter than its predecessor, with overall length increasing by 95mm and a 30mm extension to the wheelbase. The new model has a roomier cabin than the current Jazz and increased boot space of 354 litres, going up to 897 litres with the rear seats down.

The front suspension has been completely redesigned in order to improve ride and refinement.

What engines can I choose from?

A new 101bhp 1.3-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is available at launch, with the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic transmission.

The 1.3-litre engine is capable of returning up to 61.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 106g/km when connected with the CVT automatic transmission.

What equipment does the Honda Jazz come with?

The new Jazz will be available in three trim levels, dubbed S, SE and EX. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control and automatic lights. SE cars get 15-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, and electric door mirrors.

Top-level EX cars get 16-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded stereo system, keyless entry and go, and climate control.

There’s also a new in-car infotainment system - Honda Connect - that offers real-time news, traffic and weather updates and internet browsing, as well as a 7.0in touchscreen in the centre of the dashboard. This won’t come as standard, though – a 5.0in LCD display comes on S models.

New safety features are included in the Advanced Driver Assist System package, which is available as standard on all but the entry-level trims. This new safety technology will be used across Honda’s new product line-up in 2015.

How much will the Jazz cost?

Prices for the new Honda Jazz start at £13,495 for an entry-level S model with a manual transmission, and rise to £16,815 for a top-spec EX car with a CVT automatic transmission.

Can I get a discount?

Target price discounts of up to £1000 are available on the current Jazz, so we expect similar deals for the new model.

How good are its rivals?

There are a lot of impressive cars in the small car sector, with five-star cars such as the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta providing tough competition for the Jazz.
