The facelifted Infiniti Q70 is set to take the fight to luxury rivals from Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.
What is it?
The revised version of Infiniti's luxury saloon. Revealed at the Paris motor show last year, the Q70 was previously known as the M35, but Infiniti's rebranding strategy means a change in name to go with its updated range of engines and styling.
What engines can I choose from?
Engine-wise, the biggest seller in the UK is expected to be the 2.2-litre diesel, which has been developed in partnership with Mercedes-Benz. It produces 168bhp and 295lb ft, with CO2 emissions of 129g/km. This puts it in a higher tax banding than the more powerful Audi A6 2.0 TDI Ultra, which produces only 117g/km.
Along with the diesel there's a 3.7-litre V6 petrol producing 316bhp and 266lb ft, plus a hybrid option using an electric motor and a 3.5-litre V6, with total outputs of 359bhp and 403lb ft. Infiniti claims this will deliver a 0-62mph time of 5.3sec and CO2 emissions of 145g/km.
What equipment does the Q70 come with?
Four trim levels are available on the Q70. All models, starting with the entry-spec Premium model, feature LED headlights and tail-lights, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, sat-nav, ventilated leather seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Sport models feature upgraded brakes and 20-inch alloys, plus a more aggressive front-end styling treatment.
Premuim Tech and Sport Tech trims include additional items such as adaptive cruise control, a Bose premium audio system, lane departure with blind-spot warning and a 360deg surround-view camera system.
Buyers are able to order the diesel engine in all four trims levels, while the hybrid is limited to Premium or Premium Tech models. The 3.7-litre petrol is available in Sport Tech trim only.
How much does the Infiniti Q70 cost?
The entry-level Q70 costs £32,650, but prices rise to £44,100 for a top-spec version.
How good are its rivals?
Main rivals for the Q70 include Audi's A6 Ultra, which offers up to 64.2mpg from its 2.0-litre TDI engine. The A6 currently holds a four-star rating from What Car?.
