What is it?
The Vauxhall Viva is an all-new city car which fits into the manufacturer's line-up underneath the stylish Adam and larger, plusher Corsa.

What engines can I choose from?

How much equipment does it come with?
All models are pretty well equipped. The entry level trim is SE and includes tyre pressure monitoring, lane departure warning, hill start assist, cornering brake control, cruise control and front fog lamps as standard. The next level up is SE Air Con, while SE ecoFLEX models get front and rear spoilers and low-rolling resistance tyres to achieve 65.7mpg, emissions of 99g/km and a free road tax.

The range-topping SL models get electronic climate control, plush seats, leather steering wheel and alloy wheels. Further cost options include heated seats, parking sensors and an electric glass-sliding sunroof.

How much will the new Vauxhall Viva cost?
The Viva SE starts at Β£7995, with SE Air Con and ecoFLEX models costing Β£8170. The SL models cost Β£9495.

How good are its rivals?
The obvious rivals are the Dacia Sandero, The Dacia is available for considerably less money, but more comfortable models cost more. The Hyundai i10 is less well equipped for similar money but is the current What Car? City Car of the Year and as such is the one the Viva needs to beat.

Can I get a discount?
Buyers can generally get a discount on all Vauxhall models but don't expect huge savings early on in the car's life, given the already competitive list price.
