Best hot hatch for everyday usability

Audi RS3 Sportback Carbon Black

COTY 2024 logo with Motoreasy

In terms of raw power, the Audi RS3 isn’t quite the volcano that the Mercedes-AMG A45 is. However, almost nothing separates them in terms of acceleration; in fact, the RS3 officially wins the 0-62mph sprint by 0.1sec.

In other regards, though, they’re surprisingly disparate, with the RS3 having a more mature outlook on life. It may not be as laser-sharp or as much fun as the A45, but it compensates when you put the adaptive suspension (a £960 option that’s essential to get the best out of the RS3) in Comfort mode, becoming one of the comfiest hot hatches you can buy.

It’s much quieter than the A45 on the motorway and generally less demanding in everyday use, with lighter steering and less body-hugging (but still supportive) front seats. Throw in a melodious engine noise and the RS3 is the hot hatch to pick if you don’t want to be ‘on it’ all the time.
