Car of the Year Awards 2023: Best performance car for thrills
First and foremost, a great performance car is entertaining and involving to drive, but unlike pure sports cars, they also have to be practical and comfortable enough to use every day...
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo 510

While some performance cars manage to straddle the middle ground between performance, running costs and practicality, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio unashamedly goes after one thing more than anything else: smiles per mile.
A big part of its appeal is its storming 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine, which produces a heady 503bhp and an intoxicating soundtrack, especially in Race mode. It can dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in just 3.9sec, matching the rival BMW M3 and beating the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo 4S.

The Quadrifoglio’s handling is even more special, with astonishing agility and a delightful natural balance that allows you to explore its limits with confidence.
Although its interior isn’t a patch on the Cross Turismo’s and its running costs will be much higher, it will have you grinning like a Cheshire cat on every trip.
