The Caterham Seven is to come with its smallest and most efficient engine yet a turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder Suzuki engine.
The small Suzuki engine will bring the starting price for the Caterham range down to just under 17,000, although this is expected to be for the kit version. A factory built car will cost around 3000 more, bringing the price to just under 20,000.
Performance figures are yet to be announced, but it is expected that while the latest version of the Seven will most likely be the slowest in the range, it is still set to get to 60mph in around 6.5 seconds.
The release of the new engine will coincide with a few tweaks to the Caterham range, with minor cosmetic and engineering alterations expected to be announced closer to the on-sale date.
The new 660cc Caterham Seven will be available to order from September, with deliveries expected by the end of the year.
