Fiat Grande Panda Electric gains new trim level
A new trim level for the Fiat Grande Panda Electric introduces a mid-point between its current offerings...

A new mid-spec trim – called Icon – has been introduced for the Fiat Grande Panda Electric, having previously been offered only on hybrid versions.
The new Icon trim will sit in between entry-level Red trim and range-topping La Prima trim. It will offer 16in black alloy wheels (instead of the white steel ones that come with Red trim), front and rear skid plates, roof rails and privacy glass at the rear. You also get manual air-con and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring, but those come as standard with Red trim.
Opt for Icon trim on your Grande Panda Electric, and you’ll pay £21,995. That’s not much more than Red trim, priced from £21,035, which makes sense because you don’t get loads of additional kit.
You’ll pay £24,035 for top-spec La Prima trim, which gets you 17in alloy wheels, automatic climate control, an integrated sat-nav, a wireless phone charger and heated seats.
Following the announcement of the government Electric Car Grant (ECG), Fiat introduced its own grant on its electric models, which means you’ll be able to save £1500 on any version of the Grande Panda Electric. Currently, no Fiat models are officially eligible for the government grant.
The Grande Panda Electric is powered by a 44kWh battery and a 111bhp electric motor. It’s good for a range of 199 miles, which is impressive at its price point. However, there is no larger battery option like there is on the rival Renault 5.
Icon trim was previously only available on the Grande Panda Hybrid, which gets a mild hybrid setup combining a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a small electric motor for a total power output of 109bhp. Despite its more modest punch, it can accelerate from 0-62mph faster than the electric version, and indeed faster than equivalent versions of rivals like the Dacia Duster and Seat Arona.
The Hybrid variant offers the same trim levels as the electric one, except it swaps entry-level Red trim for Pop trim – though the inclusions are very similar.
