New Audi E-tron vs Jaguar I-Pace

Competition in the electric car market is hotting up with the arrival of Audi’s E-tron luxury SUV. Let’s see if it’s good enough to beat our current favourite, the Jaguar I-Pace...

New Audi E-tron vs Jaguar I-Pace

Our verdict

It’s a close call, this – and there are valid and objective reasons for choosing either one of these electric SUVs.

If you value comfort and peaceful cruising manners over agile handling, need lots of space and won’t find yourself restricted by a sub-200-mile real-world range, the E-tron will suit you very well indeed. Handy features, such as charging ports on both sides of the car, should also help make it extra-easy to live with.

But the thing is, even in the areas in which the E-tron comes out on top, it doesn’t do so by a particularly big margin. In contrast, the I-Pace absolutely wipes the floor with the E-tron in its particular areas of excellence – namely real-word range, performance and handling. That being the case, the I-Pace just comes out on top and is a thoroughly brilliant car.
