Toyota recalls 5000 Prius models
* Potential brake problem identified * Models built between March and October 2009 affected * Free fix takes three hours...
Toyota has issued a recall for its current Prius.
The recall affects 4947 UK-registered Prius models built between March and October 2009, with around 242,000 models affected globally.
The issue concerns the brake pressure accumulator. A fatigue crack may develop over time, resulting in a decreased braking force. At the same time, a warning light will appear on the dashboard.
Owners will be contacted by Toyota over the next few weeks and asked to make an appointment to bring their car to their nearest Toyota centre for the three hour fix to be carried out.
Customers can check whether their vehicle is affected by using a registration look-up service (www.toyota.co.uk) or call 0800 1388744.
