Volkswagen reveals Passat Bluemotion fuel economy figures

Volkswagen has announced the Passat Bluemotion will return an official fuel economy figure of 76.3mpg and will emit 95g/km of CO2.

These are the official figures for both the saloon and estate models. These impressive figures should appeal to those looking for a Volkswagen Passat as a company car.

A 1.6 TDI diesel engine that produces 118bhp powers both versions, which get a six-speed manual gearbox.

Standard specification will include equipment to improve the car's fuel efficiency including alloy wheels and a radiator grille that are different from the standard car plus a shutter to the radiator.

Bluemotion models will go on sale at the beginning of June. Prices and specification will be confirmed nearer the on-sale date.
