For The performance is as massive as the pricetag, and the Continental is as classy and as comfortable as you'd expect for this sort of money
Against The running costs are cripplingly expensive - but you would expect that, too
In some ways, a great modern Bentley; in others, not. Fast, smooth, refined, sharp and luxurious
The Continental Flying Spur saloon is actually a shade cheaper than the Continental GT coupe on which it's based, but provides more space.
Two versions are available - a ‘standard’ edition and a range-topping Flying Spur Speed. Both are dual-natured beasts, with air suspension that can switch between four modes, ranging from limo-like comfort to sports saloon firmness.
VW’s 12-cylinder W12 engine powers both, though it’s tuned for more power in the speed. Whichever version you choose, the Flying Spur is classy, comfortable, spacious and oozes luxury. You can even specify twin armchairs to replace the rear bench.
There’s a hefty premium to pay for the Speed, though - nearly £16,000, although fuel economy and CO2 emissions remain the same for both. The Flying Spur isn’t perfect, but if money’s no issue there’s not a lot that will match its presence, prestige and performance.
