    My car

My first Honda, bought new as a '56. More fun to drive than I expected, especially coming from my RX8. It can still be thrown around. So far I've little to complain about. Economical, not too noisy, huge space and been a real workhorse. I suppose the interior is a bit too plastic and cheap, and I would have liked to have the iPod connection as standard (as in the Honda Jazz!!) but this is doing what i expected very well, and exceeding expectations in performance and fun. I'll keep you posted.

    My car

    Engine Explosion !

I have owned a Honda CRV i-VTEC from new which is now just under 5 years old, it is on a 02 plate. This is the second Honda I have owned and I have always been impressed with the models I have chosen. The car has been perfect until last Thursday (8th March 2007) whan I was travelling North bound on the M11 near Stansted Airport around 7pm in the evening, so there were quite a few cars on the road, when suddenly at @ 70MPH I heard a large bang and saw lots of smoke coming from the engine.

The car is just under 5 years old, it has done 56,000 miles, full service history (3 x Honda, 1 x Independent using genuine parts)

I am now seeking advice from Honda to see what the resolution will be, they boast about the quaility of their engines so hopefully they will be able to put this to rest very soon.

I have taken photo's of the car in this state and holes can be clearly seen in the engine. Oil has leaked everywhere, now I am no mechanic but in my opinion I would say this is not normal and totally unacceptable for this low mileage.

I would like to know of any other engines that have suffered, or is this the first one ??

    My car

Owned my car since November 2006, bought second hand, first registered October 05 from Stratstone Honda Leeds.

I love this car, however, I don't love the fuel consumption at the moment. Have done 10,000 miles in the last 3 months, and am getting just over 400 miles to the tank, thats about 30mpg. Considering 90% of that was motorway driving, this is not good.

Told Stratstone Honda Leeds about this, and it took them almost a month to get back to me - only after I had written a letter to complain. Told them about the EGR valve problems I had seen here, and they said my car was too new for this to be the problem... They serviced it, and updated the CPU, but no improvement (the mpg readout is higher - 35mpg, but the reality is very different).

If your Honda dealer has fixed this without making a fuss, can you let us know who they are....

    My car

On our second CRV from 1998 1st car faultless in 56,000 miles. The new car CTDi Sport March 2006. No problems until 2 weeks ago. Suddenly wouldn't start, revs racing then stop. No warning. Oil and Water fine 7200 miles. Fault cleared then day later let me down 400 yards from home. Just reved and stopped as if stalled, started 40 mins later without any problem.

Engine sounded noisey. AA out and escorted to Dealership. Suspected EGR valve faulty. Honda couldn't find a fault but told us the EGRs are being looked at and we will get a call back shortly to have the new version fitted. Glad we bought the Happy Service pack.
