i dont personaly own this car, my mum does but i have driven it and love it as much as her. the car does 75+ to the gallon we have owned a s, t, y, 05, 55, 08 and 58 Plate polos and we loved them all. I wouldnt buy anything else but a Volkswagen Group car. EVER. no ford, no vauxhaul. never. the car is not as loud are people made out. it is comfortble. its quick. its no F1 car but you can get round a tesco lorry.
I have a hired 58' plate Polo Match 5dr Match 70 for the week The first I noticed when I got in was its quite roomy with the good headroom. Saying that I wouldnt want to be sitting in the back if the driver or front passenger is near 6 ft as you wouldnt have much if any legroom. The interior quality is very good for a small car, a decent CD/MP3 player and 'Climatic' Control or manual air con if u like. The blue backgound lighting for the dials does make it feel abit more plusher compared to a Yaris. Its German engineering so I wouldnt expect anything else. The gearbox and clutch are very light. You can change gear with your little finger and your left leg wont get tired in trafffic through constant gear changing. However saying this the car is quite terrible if that not too harsh a word to drive. This is certainly the case along country roads where there way too much body roll around the corners and the wheels & tyres dont seem big enough to offer enough grip espcially in the wet. Traction control isnt standard so it maybe worth thinking about. Driving around town is where this car makes sense, soft suspension set up and decent economy with an easy gearbox and clutch make for an easy drive. 0-60mph is 14 secs which is shocking, but thats not important for this car. It has great pull to 30mph which in town driving is more important. Its very expensive though and this model is over 10k. A second hand buy would make sense.
I've Just Got Recently a VW Polo 1.4s 80 bhp 5dr Automatic 57-Reg. From Motabilty Car Scheme, I'm Happy With The Car By Looks Only, But I'm Very Disapointed in the Fuel Consumption, it's Very Poor Around Town that Only Does About 20mpg. Even The Book Say's 40mpg. The Dashboard is Noisy and Built Poor Quality, The Rear Boot Dos'nt Close Properly, but anyway the Car is On Three Years Lease Until May 2010, So It Mean's That I'm Stuck With The Car For Another 2 Years. But I'll Will Not Buy a VW Polo (Auto) Ever Again In My Life. (It's Just Too Expensive To Run) I'll Will Recommend To Buy a Toyota Yaris 1.4D (Auto) That Does 53mpg at the Same Price, Spec And Built Quality. Thanks For Reading For VW Polo Owners.
I used to own an 'S' reg Polo that I adored and stupidly I bought a 51 reg and hated it so much so I changed it 3 months later for a new 05. What a mistake! I felt like I was driving a sardine can and unlike my original 'S' reg that was sturdy and nippy - this thing felt very unsafe. The 1.4TDI is growly and noisy to drive even at speed. The gear stick is like something out of a Citroen 2CV, the interiors are plastic and tacky - mind you the drinks holder was good! The car is very fast yet felt too unsafe and so I upgraded to a Golf and its fab! I will never buy another Polo ever!!
