The biggest changes are the addition of a two-wheel drive version of the car and a new dual-clutch automated manual transmission option.

More details are yet to be announced on the two-wheel-drive model, but the SST transmission, which is already used in the Lancer, has two clutch plates to makes shifts faster and to improve economy and lower emissions.

The first cars will start to appear in showrooms from July in the shape of a special edition called Juro. The familiar Equippe, Warrior and Elegance trims follow in October.

All get a new grille, sump guard, side trim, door mirrors and front foglamps. Every model (except Equippe and petrol Elegance models) can also be specified with Mitsubishi's Sports Shift Transmission (SST).

Juro first out of the blocks
The Juro special edition that introduces the face-lifted range uses the more powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine. It is available as a six-speed manual for 25,999 or with the SST transmission for 27,199.

Leather seats, metallic paint, privacy glass and a new design of alloy wheels are standard.
