Audi boss confirms electric A2
* May be five years away, though
* Frankfurt car showcases future Audi tech
Audi boss Rudolf Stadtler has revealed that the stunning A2 electric car concept, shown in public for the first time at today's Frankfurt show, will be put into production. Although company insiders indicated to What Car? that we may have to wait up to five years for it.
At 3.8 metres long the A2 concept is shorter than the A1, narrower and 7cms taller - allowing lots of room for four adults. The final car should keep those sort of proportions too as Stadtler is touting it as 'an urban mobility solution'.
The show car is also previewing technical features that could also end up on other future Audis, including the latest LED lighting technology.
Recently Audi's design boss Stefan Sielaff told What Car? that future Audi cabins will have a lot more digitised displays and more driver-focused information with less clutter. He revealed that they were also even considering dropping lighting and windscreen wiper controls and making them fully automated.
