Audi RS 6 saloon: an everyday supercar

Audi has unveiled its Audi RS6 saloon, which it describes as an 'everyday supercar'.

Powered by a 572bhp V10 petrol engine with 479lb ft of pulling power, it travels from 0-62mph in 4.5 secs and has a limited top speed of 155mph, although this can be raised to 174mph as an option.

The engine is linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox, which changes gear in one-tenth of a second.

The ride and handling are improved by a new system called Dynamic Ride Control, which can be set in three positions: sport, dynamic and comfort.

The stability control system has been set up to kick-in later than on a standard road car and can also be set to Sport mode or switched off entirely if the driver wishes.

The RS 6 sits on 20-inch alloys and uprated steel brakes from the standard car. High-performance ceramic brakes can also be specified.

Styling features that differentiate the car from the standard model include air intakes, flared wings, a rear diffuser and two oval exhausts.

Standard equipment includes sports seats, dual-zone air-con, front and rear parking sensors, a sports steering wheel and a Bose CD player.

Options include sportier bucket seats, a lane-assist system that warns if you drift between lanes, side assist that warns you of potential hazards in blind spots, and adaptive cruise control, that maintains a constant distance to the car ahead. Bluetooth integration is also available.
