Audi to miss London Show

Audi won't attend this summer's British International Motor Show, and BMW is rumoured to be following suit.

An Audi spokesman revealed it doesn't consider the show good value for money, saying: 'There are richer pickings among our target market elsewhere, such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed.'

According to some sources BMW has also decided to miss the event, in spite of attending the previous London show.

A BMW spokesman said :'The jury's still out. We haven't said a definite no yet. However, we have to consider the cost of stand space and staff, and decide if we could do something better with that money.'

If BMW confirms that it won't take a stand at the London show this summer, then Mercedes-Benz will be the only German prestige car maker to attend.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it will have a presence, but it's likely to be quite low-key.

'With Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands we have a motorshow every day of the year,' said a spokesman. 'It's likely that we'll use our stand to promote Mercedes-Benz World but we're certainly not snubbing the show.'

The British International Motor Show is at London's Excel from July 23 to August 3.
