Rated 3 out of 5

The bulky Macally phone mount is adjustable in six ways, but that does mean it’s quite fiddly to use and can take a bit of time setting up to find a good position. It is also more difficult to stow away because of its size. It is good value, but other phone mounts are more aesthetically pleasing and offer a similar range of adjustability.
Name Aukey windshield/dashboard mountable smartphone holder

This is a very simple, high-quality and effective phone mount. It’s a rotational holder attached via a magnetic ball joint to a suction cup that can be stuck to the windscreen or, via a plastic pad, the dashboard. It’s easy to find the perfect position and simple to adjust. The holder is attached directly to the cup without an extendable arm, which means it needs to be mounted quite close to you. That said, it’s rock solid when you’re driving and you can easily detach the holder from the mount. It's a great price, too, and comes with a 24-month warranty.
This air vent phone holder gets an extra support leg for added stability on the move – something that many other air vent mounts lack. It is fairly bulky and heavy compared with similar holders, because it uses a magnet, but the support leg goes a long way to help keep the phone stable. It is also a bit fiddly to set up.
Name Aukey magnetic car mount

Another simple magnetic air vent holder that is similar to the iOttie iTap. However, this option is a bargain. It's available in a two-pack and is a great magnetic air vent option. It isn't as robust as the iTap and you can notice the price gap between the two products, but the Aukey has no problem in keeping the phone secure while driving. It doesn't, however, offer any movement or tilting functions at all.
Name Arkon magnetic phone mount MAG179

Secure and steady, there’s plenty of adjustability to get the holder in a good position, plus it’s easy to take off again. It feels better in quality than most rivals, with a clean design, and offers a ball and socket joint to give plenty of movement. This mount is also available as a non-magnetic version, which is also very good and simple to use.
