Offering tyre fitment and servicing, the company said that each of its garages will join the code within the next 12 months.

Blackcircles.com boss Michael Welch said: 'We recently expanded our offering to include vehicle servicing and, with the addition of Motor Codes, we're demonstrating to our garages and customers that we're committed to maintaining high industry standards.'

The Motor Codes on service and repair was created by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in response to wide-ranging criticism of standards in the industry.

It is designed to give motorists access to reputable garages and provides conciliation and binding arbitration services in the event of disputes. So far, more than 6500 garages have joined the scheme and can be found through the Motor Codes website.

There is also a free advice line, which motorists can call on 0800 692 0825.
