The BMW i3 is the company's first foray into the world of mainstream electric motoring, and is available in either pure electric or range-extender formats.
In both cases it is powered by a 168bhp electric motor, which takes it from 0-62mph in just over seven seconds. The range extender version also comes with a small, two-cylinder petrol engine and a nine-litre fuel tank that promises to double the distance the car can go without charging or refuelling.
The pure electric version costs from £25,680 (once you have factored in the £5000 Government electric vehicle grant) and the range extender starts at £28,820.
