Bugatti Galibier decision close

Bugatti is on the brink of deciding to put the Galibier mega-saloon into production, but it will be significantly changed from the concept car revealed in 2009, its boss Wolfgang Durheimer has revealed to What Car?.

Most of the changes to the car were the result of customer feedback from clinics held around the world for existing Veyron owners.

Key modifications include changing the car from the central pillar backwards to allow more space in the rear, and to make it easier to get into and out of.

Customers also demanded more power. The original concept car used a 900bhp twin supercharged version of the Veyron's W16 engine, but the power figures of the final production car will 'be at least four figures'.

The final car is likely to go on sale by 2013 and will cost around 1.5 million. Whether it will be called Galibier or be given another name from Bugatti's history is still to be decided.
