Call for end to diesel-spill road deaths

Diesel spills are claiming the lives of two people every week in the UK, and now there's a call for action to tackle these road deaths.

advertisment

Brian Adam, an SNP MSP (Member of the Scottish Parliament), says he wants ministers north and south of the border to come up with measures to help prevent diesel-spill accidents.

Mr Adam is making the call after the deaths of a mother and her two children were killed in an incident thought to have been caused by spilt diesel.

Ann Copeland and her children Niamh (10) and Ciara (seven) died when their car was involved in a collision on the A92 near Montrose.

Police investigating the incident are stopping traffic at the scene to ask if motorists saw anything spilling from a vehicle before the crash.
