Call for tough action on migrant drivers

Calls have been made for tougher action on foreign drivers who break the law after a Polish woman drove the wrong way around a roundabout and killed a 25-year-old woman.
Sheena Grant was a passenger in a car when it was hit by Joanna Filipiak on a roundabout in Basingstoke in November 2006.
Filipiak admitted causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for nine months and banned for driving for two years.
Now, Superintendent Mick Doyle, head of roads policing for Thames Valley Police, is calling for tougher enforcement to ensure that foreign drivers comply with UK road laws.
He said that the number of migrants moving to Britain was causing a problem, because they were not forced to take a UK driving test.
'A tough enforcement regime would help to ensure they comply with UK laws but police action alone cannot hope to improve the situation.
