Deal of the Day: Lease a Vauxhall Mokka Electric from £232 per month

The Vauxhall Mokka Electric is a no-fuss, sharp-looking electric car, and you could save a packet on one with our leasing deals...

The Vauxhall Mokka Electric might be the car for you if you like the idea of owning an electric car but don’t want to shout it from the rooftops. That’s because the Mokka Electric looks almost identical to its petrol equivalent, the Vauxhall Mokka, save for some subtle “e” badging and a charging port instead of a fuel filler flap.

So, if that all sounds good to you, then you might be pleased to know that you could get your hands on a brand new Mokka Electric for as little as £232 per month. To do that, you’ll need to sign up for a 60-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2774.52. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1794.60), which will cost £299.10 per month.

Every Mokka Electric comes equipped with a 50.8kWh (usable capacity) battery, which powers a 154bhp electric motor. That’s not rapid by any means, but it should be plenty to get you from A to B.

Our Deal of the Day is the special-edition Griffin version, which means the Mokka Electric can travel up to 209 miles on a single charge – just slightly less than an MG S5 EV. Some rivals with bigger batteries offer more, but the Mokka Electric has enough juice to cover many journeys in one hit.

The Mokka Electric is pleasantly comfortable, and it doesn’t feel bouncy on undulating roads. While there is some wind noise at higher speeds, it’s still much quieter than a VW ID 3.

If you’re a fan of SUVs, then you’ll appreciate the lofty driving position of the Mokka Electric, which gives you a commanding view of the road ahead. And both the steering wheel and the driver’s seat get a good range of adjustment, so you shouldn’t have too many issues getting comfortable.

The old infotainment system in the previous Mokka Electric was clunky, but since its update, the 10.0in touchscreen is much clearer and more responsive. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring come as standard as well, so you don’t have to use the Vauxhall system if it’s not for you.

While the Mokka Electric isn’t quite as airy inside as a Kia EV3, there’s enough head room even for taller passengers and drivers, and there’s more rear space than in a DS 3 E-Tense.

Our Deal of the Day comes equipped with 17in alloy wheels, LED headlights, a black roof, tinted rear windows, heated front seats and steering wheel, automatic climate control, keyless start and cruise control.
