Firm to build 1000 electric Range Rovers

More than 1000 electric Range Rovers will be built by Oxford-based Liberty Electric Cars.

The electric Range Rovers are expected to cost around 125,000 and will have a range of 200-miles.

The chief executive of Liberty Electric Cars, Barry Shrier said: 'The Liberty Electric Range Rover takes electric vehicle technology into large luxury cars that people aspire to drive, particularly in cities and urban environments where environmental controls are becoming increasingly tighter.'

Liberty Electric Cars Ltd is investing 30 million in the re-engineering of various large luxury cars and SUVs into emission-free, high-performance electric vehicles.

The project is likely to create around 250 jobs.
