The SMMT says UK-built cars accounted for 10.4% of sales through the scheme, so that's under 35,000 cars based on total sales to date of around 330,000 cars. UK-built cars normally account for around 13.5%.

Although Ford doesn't build cars in the UK any more, it does produce engines here in large quantities. Add those into the mix, and there's a British connection to one in five cars bought through the scrappage scheme.
